The Layout section of the customization panel allows you to edit surface level items, including, your logo, favicon, header and footer widgets, properties title and your details as owner of the website.
This section will go through how to change all of these.
To customize your site, go to Appearance > Customize.
You will land on the following page:
The first option to edit is site identity. Click on this.
You will be presented with a number of options.
Changing the Logo
To change your site’s logo click ‘change logo’ and select the appropriate file from your computer.
You can then change the size of the logo, it is already set to the recommended setting of 300px.
The Site Title is the title of your website, and serves as an introduction to your content. It is usually your company name. You will see it appear on Google search results.
The Tagline is the second part of the introduction and is a quick and catchy phrase introducing what you do. You also see this in the Google search results.
There is a small checkbox available if you don’t want the site title and tag line to show in the header of your website (this is the default option in the demo). Ensure that the box is unchecked if you want to keep it this way.
Also known as the favicon. This is the small image that appears next to your website in the address bar and at the top of your tabs. For example:
To change this, click on Change Image and upload the file from your computer.
Once you have made all your edits to this section. Click on Publish at the top of the top of the sidebar.
Here you have the option to change the text in the button that says ‘Get Notified’
Under the button text, there is a hyperlink, this takes the customer to a form to enter their details.
To change the button text, simply edit the text in the box on the left.
As above, once you have made your required changes. Hit Publish to save.
The footer area has a further two subsections. Footer Widgets and Footer Bottom
In the footer widgets, you have the choice to change the following.
Site logo – As above, click Select Image and insert the logo picture from your computer. If you prefer not to have a logo in the footer, click Remove.
Credit Image – There will be a section that displays all the types of credit cards that your site can accept. To remove this image, click the remove button.
Note: If you’re using Heartland to process your payments, these logos are mandatory.
Contact Information – There are also two boxes to add an email and phone number. Leave either of these blank if you don’t wish to include this information on your site.
Social Media – Put in the link to your social media page. A corresponding logo will appear in the footer which customers can click to be directed to your website. If you leave them blank the logo will simply disappear.
Once you’re finished, hit Publish to save.
This area provides you with an area for copyright information. To change the information, just type your preferred text in the box.
Hit Publish to save.
Under this category you can change the title and the subtitle of the properties page.
To save, click Publish.
The owner’s information will appear on specific properties on the Properties page as you can see in the image below.
To change the photo click on Select Image and choose an image from your computer. If you prefer not to have one, click Remove.
Owner Name – Enter your name here.
Title – Enter your title here.
Contact Information – Enter any contact information here such as email or phone number.
Contact Button Text – Here you can change the text on the contact button. For example, Call Now, Email Now, etc.
Contact Button Type – Here you can change the type of button you would like.
If you select Phone, it would automatically open up an application in your phone ready to make a call. The contact number would be stored in the Link section below.
If you select Email, the button will open up your email application so you can directly send an email from whichever device you are on.
If you select Link, you will be redirected to another page on the website with the contact information.
Link – In this section you type in the information for the corresponding option above. This will either be a phone number, an email, or a hyperlink to a contact page.
Click Publish to save changes.
